Some Beads Tell Great Stories

Story telling is universal.  It’s as old as the human race.  Before books became readily available, stories were told to teach religion, cultural values and tribal history.  In some cultures, beads were soon used to help tell those stories.
The earliest story telling beads were figural beads – replicas of animals and people.  Those beads were often strung together in a necklace.  When a story was being told, the women would finger the beads showing the child the rabbit or bead she was describing.  The women would finger the beads one by one as the story progressed.  It was not dissimilar to turning the pages in a book.
Some native tribes still keep their story telling alive.  Native American Indians, East European gypsies and native Africans still tell stories and still use story bead necklaces.   Sometimes the storytellers are women, some are men.  They are held in high regard in their tribe.  While it is a dying art, some people are actually professional oral storytellers, and they still use beads to keep their stories alive.
At Gold Market Diamond Jewelers, we carry Biagi Beads**, which come in an array of high quality sterling silver letters, numbers, birthstone beads, hand-blown glass, Swarovski® crystal and Italian Murano glass beads. They are compatible and interchangeable with other leading brands of bead jewelry, such as Pandora, and make a unique and personalized gift for any occasion. There’s always a creative opportunity to express yourself with beads. Anyone can build fashionable jewelry designs that have a special meaning… jewelry that tells their story!
Some ideas include: celebrating the birthday of a grand-daughter by selecting new beads each year to add to a necklace, or commemorating important episodes in a child’s life during the year such as drama, ballet, soccer, getting a new pet or learning an instrument. Best of all, each bead tells that special someone that you love them and think about them, their interests and personalities.
