Burmese Rubies fit for a Queen

I just finished watching Season 2 of “The Crown” and absolutely loved it!

It’s made me think of Queen Elizabeth II, her life, and her famous Burmese Ruby Tiara — one of the most symbolic and personal pieces created for Her Royal Highness.

The 96 rubies mounted in the tiara were originally given to the Queen as a wedding gift from the people of Burma.  According to traditional Burmese beliefs, rubies are meant to protect their owner from evil and illness, and there are 96 diseases that can affect humans.

It includes formations of diamonds and rubies set in beautiful rose motifs inspired by the symbol of Britain, the Tudor Rose.
